Whole story
During the Tokugawa era, Kenshin was known as the Hitokiri Battousai. The killer. He killed many. After the era passed, he vanished. He was one of the people who helped to build the new Meiji Era. He has vowed not to kill anyone and had wandered around with his reversed blade/edge sword. Then he ended up at Kamiya Kaoru's dojo. Together with Kaoru and her student, Myojin Yahiko, they met up with Sanosuke Sagara. Together they went and rescued the doctor, Takani Megumi who later joined the quartet. There, Kenshin met up with Aoshi Shinomori, another vagabond.
Shishio Makoto then became the next target for Kenshin. The Meiji government asked Kenshin, together with his other rival, captain of the police squad, Saitou Hajime to stop Shishio from overthrowing the government. The Kenshin tachi also made new alliances, Misao Makimachi and the Oniwabanshuu. As Shishio was too strong for Kenshin, he listed for his master, Seijirou Hiko to help him develop his techniques.
Then they went to Shishio's lair. Kenshin met up with Aoshi again and fought him. Kenshin won. They hurried off. Kenshin's next fight was with Shishio. Although they put up a good fight, Shishio burst into flames before they even determined who was the winner. Again, together with the Kenshin tachi, they managed to stop Shishio.
The Jinchuu Arc (Revenge Arc) sees that Yukishiro Enishi, wanting to take revenge on Kenshin for his sister, Tomoe. Kenshin tachi and Enishi tachi fought at Kamiya Dojo. Kenshin and Enishi fought. Before Enishi left, he left Kaoru's lifeless body to show Kenshin how painful it was if their love ones were gone.
Kenshin was so distraught by Kaoru's death, that he isolated himself from his friends and began wandering again. Aoshi, who has now joined Kenshin tachi, seemed suspicious about Kaoru's death. They dug up the body and found out that.. it wasn't Kaoru ! It was a mechanical puppet. Kaoru is safe with Enishi.
Kenshin snapped out from his senses when he saw how Yahiko was about to be killed. Then together with Sanosuke, Yahiko, Aoshi, Misao, Saitou and Megumi they set off to Enishi's island. Kenshin fought again with Enishi. The battle to the end. But Enishi lost.
After the incident, Megumi, Aoshi , Misao, & Sanosuke left Kyoto for their own reasons. Before Megumi left, she told Kenshin about his now weaken body. After a few years, the 15th Meiji year, Kenshin and Kaoru have a son, Kenji. Kenshin gave his sword/ sakabatou to Yahiko. Yahiko then left Kamiya Dojo.
Kenshin's scar has faded a bit. Kenshin has learned to deal with his past scars and emotions, but still vowing to protect lives without killing anyone. Kaoru asked Kenshin to rest. She picks up Kenji and then smiled.
Opinion
Kenshin used to be a cold blooded killer. He'd kill any enemy without mercy. Then the new age came, and he had vowed not to kill.
Kenshin is a carefree person after the new age. He had new friends. He lives in the Kamiya Dojo, yes, but he ends up doing the housework. (maybe he oughta do the cooking too). But he happily does it.
He is a master at the 'Hiten Mitsuruugi' style technique which he uses to battle with his toughtst enemies. When Kenshin battles he no longer takes on his carefree looks. He is really serious about fighting and war. Kenshin also preach a lot. ^^;; especially before a battle.
Kenshin cares a lot about the people around him. Kaoru, Sano, Yahiko, Megumi, Misao, etc..etc.. He did not want them to get into trouble, so he left when he was fighting with Shishio. Kenshin's friends cares for him too so they went to bring him back.
Kenshin is around his late twenties but he has a face like a child. His favorite phrase is, "Orooo ?". Complete with swirly eyes.
