(Battousai = Kenshin)
The next day, Kenshin woke up and she was gone. He called out for Okami (the landlord), looking worried. Then he saw Okami and Tomoe were helping with breakfast. Kenshin face faults. He asked for Tomoe's name. She carried the trays and Kenshin asked her what is she doing. Helping in the kitchen. She opened a door to serve breakfast and the men were waiting for her, wanted to know who did Kenshin brought home last night. She introduces herself. Iizuka teasingly asked Kenshin how was Tomoe. Kenshin puts on his Battousai pose and everyone quickly backed off.
That afternoon, Kenshin asked Tomoe to leave and forget everything she saw last night. Tomoe refuted. Kenshin politely say that her family would worry about her. Tomoe said that she wouldn't go out alone drinking in the night if she had a family to go home to, isn't it? Kenshin silently thinking that this is not going well. He then said that no one can look after her here.
Will you kill me then ? Tomoe asked. Kenshin then went on about how he wants to bring peace and he wouldn't attack an unarmed man. Tomoe asked again, if she did have a sword last night, would he kill her too ? Kenshin was speechless. Tomoe stood up and left the room.
After two weeks, Tomoe had comfortably settled in with all of them. Tomoe asked Kenshin to leave his room so that she could clean it. Kenshin then saw her diary. Tomoe said to not read it. Kenshin twitched. He wouldn't. But Tomoe tucked her diary in her obi. Just to be sure, she said. Kenshin twitched even more. (^_^)
That night, after receiving news about an attack taking place, Tomoe asked Kenshin does he plan to keep killing. Kenshin didn't answer.
Iizuka reports to Katsura (Kenshin's superior) about Tomoe. Tomoe seemed like the model lady. She could read and write, her way of speaking, her taste in food, it is obvious that she is not from Kyoto. Probably a samurai daughter in Kantou. She is couldn't be the spy they were looking for. But the effect she has on Kenshin... Katsura decided to have a talk with Tomoe about Kenshin. He wants Tomoe to understand what he, Kenshin and the rest are doing.
